Whilst the Company had undertaken a number of projects for the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) the Client requested expressions of interest for suitably qualified parties to organise and then manage path surveys, maintenance and repair works with suitably qualified organisations on behalf of the Park Authority. This would cover a range of activities such as path surveys, resurfacing, fence repairs, drainage maintenance and health and safety inspections. The Company was successful in securing this contract which identified a number of projects for consideration which are spread throughout the National Park area.
Under the terms of this contract, the Company, when directed by the Park Authority, was engaged to design, specify, liaise with land owners, procure (subject to agreement by the CNPA) and then manage defined packages of works based on the aforementioned activities.
The Company also ensured all health and safety requirements were adhered to, dealt with issues arising and accepted works completion on behalf of the Park Authority. Additionally, the Company kept the Park Authority informed of progress with live works and provided relevant information including before and after imagery as required on the works undertaken.
In 2024 the main priority projects included:
- Speyside Way B970/Gartenmore Improvements
- Dulnain Bridge Riverside Path 150m approx
- Bridge of Gairn - Seven Bridges Path (riverbank failure)
- Carr Road to Primary School Link Path, Carrbridge 650m approx
Each of the priority projects was split into different stage components allowing the Client to review and comment on each stage. This process worked well and allowed projects to develop to the appropriate stage required by the Client.
