Great Glen Way - Alternative Routing Feasibility Study

Trail
The design of the Alternative route was concluded in early 2013 and a selection process was then put in place to find a trail builder with the requisite skills and experience of working in remote Highland locations. The construction includes approximately 13km of new trail and the upgrading of approximately 7km of existing track. The works also require the crossing of various watercourses including thirteen pedestrian bridges of varying spans between 2m and 8m.Key to the long term durability of the trail is the implementation of a robust drainage scheme along the entire length of the route. There are various ancillary works and fencing requirements along the route, all constructed with site won material when ever possible. The company has been commissioned to provide the onsite supervision of the project along with recording and forecasting of the commercial aspects of this £1M project.
